The ideas, thoughts and links in this blog come from my desire to live a full life and to talk about this with other people. If this is something that interests you, I hope that it’s helpful.
Living life fully means acting with integrity and purpose in each part of our lives. While I might try and be purposeful about the large decisions I make, I often act without thinking through the details of my smaller choices, whether it’s setting goals for the year to come, deciding on a new pair of jeans, talking to a work colleague, or getting into a new social activity.
Perhaps this sounds familiar: We get busy, we get caught in the cycle of routines, we do lots of ‘stuff’, running from one thing to the next, but don’t have time to think about why we do it or what really matters to us. The result is often a mis-match between our values and our actions. Our lives become less and less intentional. This is normal for so many of us but I don’t think it should be.
Daily choices matter. After all, it is the sum of all these that make up our lives as a whole. Our small decisions ultimately reflect our values just as much as the bigger ones we make. They deserve the same attention.
The aim of this blog is to encourage discussion about the important things in the small parts of our lives. It will also go one step further and help us match our thoughts and words with actions: treating others with dignity and love, making ethical daily decisions, looking after our own bodies, minds and souls.
Each part of our life counts. Small choices help to build great marriages, loving families, life-long supportive friendships, positive workplaces, communities that look after each other and a better world. Small choices help us to be happy, healthy and whole.
Wishing you the full life you were meant for,
Emma
